Bridges and Walkways (40k and Necromunda)

Materials:
- 5mm Foamcore
(depending on your bridge. I recommend 3x1-2")
- cardboard
- Stuff form your bits box

Bridges are very easy to make. In Necromunda they really give the terrain the final touch, as models can cross from tower to tower, create new angels for models to shoot and generally requiring new tactics. In our games we use lots of gangways, as playing on several different levels makes the game much more interesting.
Cut the foamcard in your required length. Watch out that you make the gangway at least one inch wide, so that your models can actually be placed on it. How wide is your decision. Maybe it is only a small connector, maybe it is a real big walkway several inch wide. Place some support under the bridge, centering it. Doing that you prevent the foamcore from warping and hanging through, if a greater number of models is placed on it.
You can make walkways with cover easily by adding a 2cm high ledge to the sides of your walkway. Cover these sides with 2x2cm tiles cut from cardboard to represent steel plates. I normally cut my tiles, use a blunt nail and a hammer and hammer four small dots on the tile, each one in one of the edges. When turned around, these small indentions look like rivets.
Decorate the walkway with skulls (mine are from the Skeleton shield sprue) to give them that Gothic look. On several of my walkways I used computer jumpers to guide some string through, giving them the appearence of handholds.
